Costa Maya Mexico!

Costa Maya Mexico - Our first stop on our week long cruise.

At first site Costa Maya seemed to be nothing more than a shopping village created for/by the cruise lines, thankfully we found a little hideaway just a short cab ride away.  

When we disembarked for the day we quickly realized that the shopping wasn't our scene so we headed out looking for adventure.  We jumped in a cab for $2 US a piece and were swiftly taken to a great local village with wonderful restaurants, all boasting free lawn chairs and beach access!  We took our time and surveyed the little village and then we selected a restaurant to have lunch.  We enjoyed a few cold beers and some of the best fajitas I have ever had, then we went for a nice swim in the Caribbean... It just doesn't get much better than that!

NEW ORLEANS!

I have been working away at reviewing and editing my vacation photos and as promised here is a photo slide show of the fist leg of our trip.  These photos were taken in the beautiful (yet grubby) city of New Orleans!  For fun here are few interesting facts about this great city.

The world famous "Mardi Gras" is celebrated in New Orleans. Mardi Gras is an ancient custom that originated in southern Europe. It celebrates food and fun just before the 40 days of Lent: a Catholic time of prayer and sacrifice.

Louisiana is the only state in the union that does not have counties. Its political subdivisions are called parishes.

40% of all seafood consumed in the U.S. comes from Louisiana (No thanks to BP!)

Louisiana is second in energy production in the nation, with 11% of U.S. petroleum and 19% of America's natural gas reserves.

Welcome back!

Hello my friends!  

I am officially back from vacation and I am feeling rested and relaxed.  My journey this spring took me to New Orleans for a few days then got on a cruise ship and headed to Costa Maya Mexico, Belize, Roatan Honduras and then to Cozumel Mexico.

This trip was a great adventure, we rented vehicles went exploring, we met great friends from up north in Vancouver and we enjoyed our first cruise.

I will share more details about the trip soon, in the meantime I didn't want to leave my fans hanging so here are a few fun photos I took while on the trip.
